On August 1, 2000, a young Trinidadian, Lisa Beard, was appointed Director Bank Finance, Technology Group, of the Bank of Nova Scotia in San Francisco. Lisa, the daughter of Pearl Marshall-Beard and the late Eugene Beard, attended St Bernadette's Prep School in St Ann's, obtained eight O level passes at St Joseph's Convent Port of Spain, completed her Grade 13 at Mississauga High School in Canada, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Management Accounting Co-op from the University of Waterloo in 1993 (the co-op programme is one where the student works and studies alternate semesters). Lisa is a Chartered Accountant with the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants; and also holds a Certificate Introduction to Natural Gas Marketing from Phoenix Gas Marketing. On the road to Frisco, Lisa first gained Prior University Co-op Experience in Ontario between 1989-1992, with several companies. After her graduation, Lisa worked with Coopers & Lybrand from 1993-1997, as Audit Senior, Consultant Toronto Office and Secondment to Texas; Supervisor Chile Office; and Manager Calgary Office and Short term Secondment to the United Kingdom. In 1997 she joined the Bank of Nova Scotia as Relationship Manager, Corporate Banking, and was made Director, Bank Finance, Capital in November 1999, until her recent transfer to San Francisco. |
